I thought the originally this was the question??? I can't find any answers to this anywhere. I switched to Mac recently and bought Office for Mac 2011, and started using Outlook for my email, thinking I would like it. I'm trying a lot of different things out, and MobileMe is one of them. It seemed to me it'd be easier to use Mail than Outlook for Mac to sync using MobileMe. How can export emails in Outlook for Mac to Mail? I thought this would work as well, and it does for the most part.

It is not necessary to import the email back into Mac Mail after moving them from Outlook to the IMAP Gmail account since adding that IMAP account to Mac Mail will synchronize the email with both programs. However, there is one problem I have encountered that may or may not be an issue for some people.

It appears that emails moved from Outlook local folders to an IMAP folder does not retain the original Date Received information. Instead, it uses the date the email was copied/moved to the IMAP folder.

This is unacceptable for my purposes since the date is critical to keep a proper history of email conversations. If you add the Date Sent column to the folder list, it does show the correct sent date. There is a longish way to do this. In Outlook, Select the folder you want to move (If there are folders within the folder, you have to select each individual subfolder, as the subfolders won't copy along with the main folder, only the messages in the folder will copy). Click and drag the selected folder (ex: inbox folder) to a new folder on your desktop.

I couldn't figure out a way to select all the folders, so i dragged each folder and subfolder from Outlook into the folder on the desktop. Once you're done copying all the Outlook folders, open up Mac Mail. Go to File - import mailboxes. Then select 'Files in mbox format' and click continue. Then select desktop, and the folder you dragged all of your Outlook folders into.

Hit 'Choose.' Mac Mail will import all of these folders, and when it's finished, will tell you that they are under the folder labeled 'imports' in Mac Mail, and you just have to move all your subfolders back into their main folders.

Like I said, it takes a little while longer than I would like, but it worked for me and now I have all my old mail from Outlook in Mac Mail. Hope that helps (and that I explained right)!
